Has anyone every had a story they reported to a news team to change a bad situation or atleast scare the people into changing and have it actually run? I live in IA in a tri state area, where at least in this city all 3 states (Nebraska, Iowa and south Dakotan) is plagued by head lice in the schools! I come from the south, but from what I have heard up here, it was never tolerated before. This is the second year my children have gone through to the schools up here and come home with live every day. when I questioned the school, they said it wasnt a priority, low funds prevented them from hiring a full time nurse to do the lice checks. I dont know about the laws up here, but I was never checked by a nurse growing up. they had the teachers in each class room line the kids up. I believe they dont want to confront it because law would have them suspend the kids until their parents got of their lazy tuffs and doctored their kids, which would mean the entire schools systems here.. Every elementary, highschool, and middle school in all 3 states, would have to send the students home, which means no money for that day. See the dilemma? what can I do to force their hand? I have spent hundreds on medication! We thankfully went lice free throughout the summer, but as soon as school started back up, The very first day they came home itching.. and of course shared the love.. i have knee length hair.. Its not cheap to doctor and I dont feel I should have to cut my hair because the school is ignoring a major issue here. It is plague proportions!... Read More »
